There are several possibilities for building the next generation of the Self-levitation platform. Above are some pictures of proof of concept model. I am working on a system where the wheels jam and let you down slowly if you ever let go, or fell.

Instead of having a cage around the platform providing the support, the support has become an antenna, a railway to the sky.

In his book "A Sense of Place" Tony Hiss speaks of the world trade center, buildings. The corners weren't really sharp edges, but rather sidewalk wide walls (the floor plans were sort of octagonal). You could walk up to one of the corners of the towers and put your chin against the wall, when you looked up to the sky the perspective was such that you could not see any of the rest of the building, just a long sidewalk to the sky.
