A parabolic dish was placed at each end of the flux factory building. It was as though the stereophonic distance between each of your ears was increased to the width of the whole building.
This second dish was aimed at the Long Island Railroad yards

The opening of the hose was placed at the focus of each parabolic dish. All the sounds directly in front of the dish, which enter the parabola straight-on are reflected towards this focal point, which acts like a sort of audio telescope bringing forward very focused distant sounds.
The parabolas were actually large chinese woks found in china town. I used a design I saw in pictures of satellite dishes to secure the hose to the center of each wok. The little tripod is held fast in the center of the dish by the tension of three strings
